The functional system of social and human relationships is fundamental for our society. We could not possibly deny this. And it also represents the basis of international relations and diplomacy. But what is the role of the heart and the mind in all this? Is the mind really subservient to the heart?
My answer would be that we do have a heart, and we do have a mind! But one is not subservient to the other; they both interconnect into a special relationship that is necessary to the very construction and preservation of our humanity. The evolution of human "culture" is based on creating an ocean of complex thinking and feeling tools, generated by an impressive brain volume. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we all descend from Homo Sapiens, the bipedal primate having the ability to use these complex tools. This ability allows us to exchange and connect with each other. No matter what the nature of the relationship we enter into is, this capability is led by the intricate interconnection between reason and feeling.
I would also like to point that the relationships we build with other people are projections of the relationships and connections we have within ourselves. And the relationships we have within ourselves are a complex mixture of mental analyses, consciousness, cognition and emotion.
So how could our mind be subservient to the heart when we clearly rely on both equally, mind and heart, to live this life?
